News - February 2017
The beginning of the year is always a catalyst for getting stuck into new projects and feeling geared up. This year is no exception.
For a long time I’ve wanted to get back into doing more singing and playing Cajon and by a weird coincidence that’s just what’s happened! It’s all very early days but I’ve started rehearsing with 6 fantastic vocalists to form a 7 piece Acapella group with a splash of Cajon (that’s where I come in).
Hopefully some exciting things are going to happen with this group but I’ll post more when I know for definite, watch this space!
My lessons at Create Norwich are going from strength to strength and I’m currently teaching Monday – Thursday, day through to evening. I’m very nearly fully booked on these days so if you’re interested in lessons please get in touch ASAP. January is always a fantastic time of year for new pupils (Xmas drumkits!). I feel sure that 2017 is going to be my busiest year ever!
As well as my private drum tuition at Create, I have started teaching at Taverham High School. It’s only early days but I’m planning on drumming up more trade (pardon the pun) by doing a few school assemblies to show the students what the drums are all about.
As far as live performance, I’ll be gigging away with Ignite and the Joe Ringer Band, providing entertainment for Weddings, Corporate events etc, these gigs are always great fun and I get play a selection of material which keeps things interesting
(and no I’m not sponsored by these products, I wish! I just think they’re both a great idea)
I have an electric kit to practice on at home but have never been happy with the feel and the sound of it. So instead, I’m going to use an old acoustic kit and use Zildjian L80 low volume cymbals, (especially designed to reduce your practice volume by 80%) coupled with Remo Silent Stroke drum heads. Think I’ve just found the way forward with my home practicing!
